Sara in Solidarity

Since 2011, millions of Syrians have left their homes to escape a living nightmare of bombs and bullets. Men, women and children in northern Iraq face similar threats to their safety. According to the International Rescue Committee, the refugee population in Greece surpasses 62,000 (over half of them women and children) and tens of thousands more refugees live in arguably poorer conditions in neighboring Serbia and Macedonia.
The refugees in eastern Europe are stuck living in a situation that was meant to be temporary. In far flung camps, they may be exposed to the natural elements, sharing a cold-water shower with a few hundred others, or subsisting on 1,100 calories a day of low-protein army rations. With closed borders and executive orders barring their way, this temporary life is becoming far too permanent.
We’re delivering aid. Whatever aid they need. Diapers, baby beds, milk, hygeine products, food, baby carriers, clothes… and we’ll have two cargo vans, so we can haul a LOT of aid. It’s not a solution to the problem, but it’s a way to bring some comfort and happiness to people who are suffering on a daily basis.
Support my return to Eastern Europe and/or donate additional funds to support aid purchases in the field. In April 2016, because of the generosity of my peeps, I was able to purchase everything from swaddle blankets to prenatal vitamins to underwear. All donations I receive will go towards my flight cost; any additional funds raised will be used to purchase aid on the ground. By clicking that donate button right now, you can provide diapers, feminine products, fresh produce, and more to refugees living in camps.
**Note: After clicking the donate button, you’ll head to the payment page. On that page you can edit the amount that goes to Chuffed.**
